Board of Directors Notices - Updates

Final Brochure pg 1

Final Brochure pg 2

On September 5th we received written notification of the filing of our charter with the State of Wisconsin.

Our goal is to file the 1023 application for recognition as a Non- Profit Corporation by September 8th.

We ask that members of the Board of Directors consider the following priorities and give your input concerning them.

1) We informed the IRS we organized – loosely - in Dec 2005 – that gives us until Mar 2008 to get the 1023 (non-profit) ruling –
but we want the ruling sooner just in case we can get a grant from another foundation; so we aim to file the 1023 by Sept. 8th.
This means - According tot he IRS - Until the ruling or until Mar 2008 the IRS will consider contributions to be tax deductible.
At the same time we need a license from the State of Wisconsin to solicit funds. We will make application for this by Sept. 8th.
2) We wish to start working on the Liceo as a collaborative effort between the Los Toros Foundation – Sur Futuro Foundation –
the Secretary of Education and the US embassy – US diplomatic corps. First step is to set up a meeting with Sur Futuro
(October 2006) and the second step is a meeting with either the US embassy or DR Secretary of Education –
Oct 2006 or Jan 2007!
3) The Education Project is ready to roll in Los Toros – they have a committee that can implement it.
Can we set a priority of sending them an initial $250.00 in seed money to get it started - they need this by Sept 11th.
4) The Water filter Project is almost ready to roll – they have a committee started and are ready to implement.
Can we set a priority of sending them an initial $250.00 in seed money to get it started with a commitment of
another $250.00 within the next 90 days?
5) Members of the Los Toros Foundation will meet with St. Joseph Parish Council in October to explain our goals and
objectives as well as our relationship with the St. Joseph Los Toros Mission Committee. Can we set a priority to have
a small brochure that describes the Foundation available before that meeting?

Please submit your comments on the above to the Executive Director.
